About Us

Introduction, Scope and Objectives of the Programme
The Mechanical Engineering Department of SVIT is engaged in nurturing technological ideas in our young Indian minds for the past over a decade. We have been providing world-class training at the graduate level. The course mainly deals with the use of CAD/CAM systems for mechanical engineering applications. Computer-Aided Design (CAD) involves use of wide range of computer based tools that assist engineers in their design activities. The capabilities of modern CAD systems include reuse of design components, ease of design modification, automatic generation of standard components for design, generation of manufacturing drawings and bills of material, validation of designs against specifications and design rules, simulation of designs and finite element analysis. Integration of CAD/CAM systems which is a part of CIM results in quicker and efficient manufacturing process.

Department Strengths

The department has sufficient number of faculties with Ph.D. and Post-graduate degrees in their respective fields from reputed national institutes such as IITs and NITs. We have also equipped our laboratories with latest application softwares and other required facilities in the area of CAD/CAM. The major facilities available with the department are

  • Design softwares Pro/E Wildfire, Autodesk Inventor
  • Finite Element Analysis software Ansys and Pro/Mechanica
  • CAM software MasterCAM
  • CNC Lathe and VMC
  • E-Journals of international repute

P.G. Project Areas

The students can undertake their dissertation projects in the field of FEA, Vibration Analysis, Design Optimisation, Fatigue Analysis of structures etc. The college is in MoU with a good number of companies in and around Vadodara which gives the students ample opportunities to take real time projects in industries.

Career Prospects
