Right from the establishment of SVIT the Civil Engineering department came into existence since 1997 with an intake of 60. Subsequently master course was started in the field of Structural Engineering in 2011 with an intake of 18. The department is well equipped with the state-of-art laboratories and highly qualified faculties. Majority of them possess doctorate degree from reputed institutes like IITs, NITs etc. The department is also an authorised schedule-I Auditor for Environmental Audit by Gujarat Pollution Control Board. This discipline scales the newer heights every year because of its qualified and eminent faculty members and skilled supporting staff. By organizing various extra and co-curricular events, department has contributed to generation of technologically skilled human force in the national integrity. Numbers of research publications are observed in diversified domains by our eminent faculty members. The department is well known across their excellent performance across the country.

Name of the Laboratory - Environmental Lab
The EnvironmentalEngineering laboratory practical provides good insight into different experimental methods relevant to water, wastewater and Air Pollution monitoring.In this lab we performs various test on water and wastewater samples to check pH value, total dissolved solids, BOD and COD, Total suspended particles etc. The Laboratory also provides sophisticated Equipments for good testing, teaching and research facilities.
Name of the Laboratory - Engineering Mechanics Lab
Basic understanding of different aspect of this subject is covered in this lab. The lab consist of universal force table , simply supported & overhanging beam apparatus , simple roof truss model , wheel & differential axle apparatus , single purchase crab etc. The student can compare their result experimentally & analytically using above experimental set up.
Name of the Laboratory - Geotechnical Engineering Lab
Geotechnical Engineering is concerned with the engineering behavior of earth materials. The Geotechnical Engineering laboratory has standard soil testing equipment including soil classification, compaction, consolidation, direct shear, permeability, unconfined compression and stress and strain controlled monotonic triaxial devices.
Name of the Laboratory - Computer Lab
Computer Lab has 21 Computers connected with high-speed internet. The lab has licensed software like STAAD.Pro, etc.
Name of the Laboratory - Earthquake Engineering Lab
Earthquake Engineering Lab has state of the art vibration measuring instruments. The shake table is one of the most widely used techniques to assess the seismic performance of structures made of various materials. It is used for assessing linear/nonlinear and elastic/inelastic dynamic response of structures.
Name of the Laboratory - Fluid Mechanics Lab
Fluid Mechanics laboratory deals with experiments of Fluid statics, Kinematics, Dynamics and Open Channel flow. Fluid mechanics laboratory have a tilting flume of 10 m length. It has various flow measuring devices which measure flow in pipes as well as open channel. It also has equipments which help in verification of various laws like Bernoulli’s theorem, Darcy’s law, Stoke’s law and Froud’s law

The objective of Building construction laboratory is to make students familiar and competent enough to understand various building components like Foundation, Wall, Bound, Staircase, Beam, Column, Slab, Door, Window and Flooring etc. Their technical skills and knowledge will enable them to perform their work duties with a commitment to quality, timeliness, and continuous improvement.
Name of the Laboratory - Transportation Engineering Lab
The Transportation Engineering lab has provides well maintained experimental set ups for finding out the characteristics of the Soil, bitumen, aggregates used for pavement construction and traffic engineering studies. Traffic engineering surveys are also conducted in the lab and students learn to conduct spot speed studies, volume counts, and conflict studies for preparing road improvement plans to enhance road safety.
Name of the Laboratory - Strength of Materials
Strength of Materials Lab deals with the testing of (strength measurement) of various civil engineering materials like concrete, steel bars, bricks etc. The lab is well equipped and calibrated instruments to investigate material behavior under axial load, bending, torsion, impact load etc and various other mechanical material properties.
Name of the Laboratory - Structural Analysis
Structural Analysis laboratory deals with experiments of structural models to understand the structural behavior of the physical structures like beams, columns, arches, roof trusses etc. Structural Analysis laboratory have a different structure apparatus like simply supported beam, continuous beam, columns with different end conditions, pin jointed truss, two hinge arch, Three hinge arch etc. The understanding of the practical behavior of the structures helps the strident to solve the real life problems.
Name of the Laboratory - Concrete Technology
The Concrete Technology Laboratory has testing equipment and instruments to carry out experiments on aggregates, cement, fresh concrete and hardened concrete. They consist of vicat apparatus, le-chatelier apparatus, sieve analysis set, slump test cone, compaction factor apparatus, standard cube molds, cylinder molds, beam molds, concrete mixing machine, hydraulic compression testing machine, rebound hammer etc.
Name of the Laboratory - Surveying Lab
The objective of surveying laboratory is to make student familiar and competent enough to draw map in suitable scale by using different surveying instruments like Chain, Compass, total station, theodolite, dumpy level and auto level etc.Their technical skills and knowledge will enable them to perform their work duties with a commitment to quality, timeliness, and continuous improvement.
