At SVIT, we try to provide opportunity to the students for developing skills like, technical, managerial, entrepreneurship, sports and many other co-curricular and extracurricular activities. At our Institute, we conduct number of events to serve the purpose. These include mock interviews, aptitude tests, technical quiz, elocution competitions, poster presentations, making working and demonstration models, implementation of innovative ideas and much more. We organize large scale event Prakarsh – Two day National Technical Festival to include such activities.
Prakarsh bring together the engineering and other students of various regions and give them a chance to ignite their minds and, showcase their skills and talents. Prakarsh provides a platform to the students to interact and compete with each other. Variety of technical events and workshops are organized during Prakarsh. There are non-technical events too to incorporate fun activities alongside the technical fervor followed by Pro-nights. In addition, few activities are organized to create awareness about social issues. For example, our volunteers spent a couple of days with the underprivileged children of Balgokulam Karelibaug, Vadodara and visited Lions School for differently abled Girls located in Manjalpur, Vadodara (Gujarat) to get some inspiration and motivation from their lives in past.
The Institute is organizing a two-day technical festival since last 15 years. In this Tech-Fest, about 3500 students from about 80 engineering colleges from entire Gujarat participated in various technical and other events to show case their talents. The goal of the Prakarsh is to give opportunity to engineering students of various colleges from Gujarat to participate in about 50 technical-competitive events like robotics, glider making, engine assembling, make a Remote to Control Appliances, 3D Animation, workshops etc.
Series of PRAKARSH 2006 to PRAKARSH 2020 was a great success and have set the benchmarks. Prakarsh intends to surpass those every year in developing the potential of budding techno-managers. PRAKARSH events are developed keeping in mind the basics of engineering and their applications. PRAKARSH provides the tribute to the pioneers in field of science & technology who braved all odds and dived headfirst into the stream of uncertainty and have stood by their idiosyncrasies.
We aim that this event will provide the students with inspiration, confidence and will enable the students to master the art of tackling and overcoming the technical challenges. The goal of this event is to empower engineering students of various colleges from Gujarat in a series of technical-competitive events. Some of the highlights of the events are given below:
Events of Prakarsh are formed up by 4 groups including technical events and workshops, robotics, ancillary and non tech. The group 'Piston and Propellers' covers the events by Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering. Every year a new and innovative utility machines are being taught to make in event named Rise of Machines. In event named Def-Sec, participants will be provided a chance to experience a first-hand environment similar to the Services Selection Board (SSB) interviews. The interview tests participant's potential and compatibility for commission into the Armed Forces of India. A workshop covering aero-modeling and art of flying glider is also organized.
The group named 'Dexter's Lab' covers the events by Electrical, Instrumentation & Control and Electronics & Communication Engineering. These events cover making of real and virtual circuits and real life transformers. Skills of software for controlling are also tested. Innovative workshop on designing smart system is also included. The workshop covers an innovative approach and provides hands on experience to draw circuits.
The computer field concentrates on hardware developments, while IT concentrates on software and MCA handles the application part. Together these three forms a group named ‘CyberIntrusion’ offering 5 events. All the software’s programmed in every gadget is the work of this group. Workshops covering aspects like how to make web sites, blogs and Ecommerce portals and, VFX workshop will explain how to develop visual effects.
Civil engineers provide a fundamental base to every skyscraper and each astounding structure we see around. The events of the group ‘Structonics’ include Virtual Estate, La-castelo, Bridge Mania, etc. The events of group ‘Robotics’ are focused on making perfect Robots covering utility aspects and corresponding programming. The events include a workshop which covers robot operations, recent advancements of replacing robots and drones replacing humans. In addition, various fun-filled amazing 9 non-technical events will be conducted by group named ‘Funtastic’. Another event HR summit is conducted under a group of events named ‘Ancillary’, in which HR and Technical personnel from reputed companies are invited for expert talks and interactions. The focus is to bridge gap between industries & academics and training for recruitment practices.

To explore the talent in the students, we @SVIT provide the opportunity to the students by organizing one day festival ‘SPANDAN’ in every odd semester. The objective is to expose the newly admitted students to the senior students as well as they can show case their talent and prepare themselves for the Annual Day held in even semester on a large scale.
"Tell me, and I forget, teach me, and I may remember, involve me and I learn." Benjamin Franklin.
These golden words can be aptly related to a student's journey starting their admission in college and emerging as a high-spirited leader. Across the stretch of the country the culture of celebrating college festivals is widespread. The vibrant college life is incomplete without a fest and constitutes a major part of the life of students. It etches a mark on the academic calendar and students look forward to the dates. Fests provide a platform for students to showcase one's unique talent and are important in the holistic development of the personality of the students, providing a break from the monotonous routine of evaluation and academics. They are the most effective way of bringing the youth together on the same platform, boosting social interaction and exchanging many ideas and concepts.
Holistic development being the main aim of SVIT, we celebrate festivals with great pomp and show. Malhar(Annual function), Prakarsh(National level college fest), Vision(Inter department techfest), Ganesh Chaturthi, Navratri are some of the celebrations that are held at SVIT.
